SOMEDICYT General Privacy Notice

IDENTITY AND ADDRESS OF THE DATA CONTROLLER

The entity responsible for processing your personal data is the Mexican Society for the Dissemination of Science and Technology, A.C. (hereinafter “the Data Controller”), with its registered office located at Casita de las Ciencias, upper floor. Ciudad Universitaria (Circuito Cultural s/n), Coyoacán district, Mexico City, Mexico. PERSONAL DATA PROCESSED BY THE CONTROLLER

In order to fulfill the purposes set forth in this Notice, the Controller may collect and process the following information:

  • Identification data.
  • Contact information.
  • Professional and academic profile data.

Furthermore, we inform you that, to fulfill the purposes set forth below, the Data Controller will not collect or process sensitive personal data.

PRIMARY PURPOSES

The Data Controller will process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To identify you.
  • To contact you.
  • To follow up on your questions and/or comments.
  • To conduct inquiries, investigations, and reviews regarding complaints or claims.
  • To manage and fulfill the products you have requested.
  • For professional networking.
  • To participate in the Association’s portal./li>

SECONDARY PURPOSES

In addition, unless you indicate otherwise, the Data Controller may process your information for geographic research purposes.

As a SOMEDICyT Member, you have access credentials to the portal to edit, modify, update, or delete your collected data.

DATA TRANSFERS

In order to fulfill the necessary purposes described above or any others required by law or by the competent authorities, the Data Controller will only transfer the necessary data in the cases provided for by law.

METHOD AND PROCEDURE FOR ARCO RIGHTS AND WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT

You or your legal representative may exercise any of the rights of access, rectification, erasure, or objection (hereinafter “ARCO Rights”), as well as withdraw your consent, by sending a written request to the Data Controller at the email address  contacto@somedicyt.org.mx

Please note that ARCO rights and/or the revocation of consent may only be exercised by the data subject or their legal representative upon verification of their identity; therefore, the written request you send us must be accompanied by a copy of a valid government-issued ID, such as one of the following: IFE, passport, or immigration document confirming the foreign national’s legal status in the country.

Please note that in order for your request to be processed, you must provide all the information listed below, which will be used to verify your identity:

  • ACCOUNT HOLDER INFORMATION: Full Name, Full Address, Phone Number, and Email Address (where the response to your request will be sent).
  • REPRESENTATIVE INFORMATION (IF APPLICABLE): Full Name. If you are the data subject’s legal representative, you must include the original of the corresponding notarized document with your request, or, if applicable, a power of attorney signed in the presence of two witnesses.
  • ARCO RIGHTS: Please indicate the right(s) you wish to exercise: Access, Rectification, Erasure, and/or Objection. You must also provide a description of the personal data regarding which you wish to exercise the aforementioned right(s) and/or any other comments that will help us better address your request.
  • OTHER REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: Please include any documentation you believe supports your request and helps us process it properly. In particular, for requests to correct personal data, please include the incorrect information, the correct information, and supporting documentation.

If the information provided in your letter is incorrect or insufficient, or if the required supporting documents are not included, the Data Controller may, within five (5) business days of receiving the request, ask you to provide the necessary information or documents to process it. You will have ten (10) business days to comply with the request, starting from the day after you receive it. If no response is provided within that period, the corresponding request will be deemed not to have been submitted.

The Data Controller will notify you of the decision within a maximum of twenty (20) business days from the date the request was received, so that, if appropriate, the decision may be implemented within fifteen (15) business days following notification of the response. The response will be sent electronically to the email address specified in your letter.

RESTRICTION AND/OR DISCLOSURE OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

You may restrict the use or disclosure of your personal data by sending your request to the Data Controller at  contacto@somedicyt.org.mx. The requirements for verifying your identity, as well as the procedure for addressing your request, will be governed by the same criteria outlined in the previous section.

If your request is approved, the Data Controller will add you to the opt-out list for the purpose to which the opt-out applies.

CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY NOTICE

The Data Controller may make any changes or modifications to this notice at any time, and you will be notified of such changes through our website.
